In my newest video, I go through the steps taken to clean and maintain fly lines, something I believe is one of the most important pieces of our equipment.

Feel free to comment on your own tips and/or products used, aside from the tried-and-true hot water and soap...

When I apply dressing to my fly line, I string it outside. I have hooks attached to one of my deck posts, and my shed - enabling me to hang the line between them about 6 feet off the ground. And I usually let it dry overnight after the dressing is applied, or about 12 hours. Gives great results that last - I don't have to clean it again for at least another week or two of everyday fishing.

I've also used just about every fly line dressing out there. And can't really recommend one over the other. They all seem to work well

Thanks for taking the time to comment, and smart idea to coil outside (weather permitting).

Yeah - And the weather permitting part has been a key issue lately.
I've got a line that I've been wanting to clean for the last several weeks.
But we've hardly had a single day when there wasn't at least the threat of rain for quite a while now.
And I'm still waiting to do it.
Luckily, I haven't really needed it
