Lehigh Valley Streams contaminated

Sad, but maybe they will stop stocking?

Salmo,
Health advisories in Pa regarding fish flesh contamination, including “do not eat” advisories have traditionally been based on fish flesh contamination analyses.

If and when stocked sections are removed from the stocking program, fish from those sections are stocked elsewhere, often in waters closest to the section(s) that were removed from the stocking program as long as those waters are not already being stocked to the max allowable within the classification system. ( I don’t happen to agree with this adaptation unless those waters being stocked below the max already receive very good to high angler use and actually NEED more fish on the basis of their usage; otherwise the fish should go elsewhere). Alternatively, when available, new local waters may be added to the stocking program to accept these fish. This option is often not available, however, because the good local options are already being stocked.

Thank you for the info

Stocking is perfect for marginal waters.
Yes, that’s a very good point and, sadly, it would not be a surprise if in the long run stocked fisheries most commonly affected, if at all, would be in marginal downstream sections in urban and metropolitan areas, which often receive very high angler use, logically taking some pressure away from more suburban or rural waters on the outskirts. This all remains to be seen as professional knowledge on the topic is gained and evolves.

True as it may have been it was said with tongue firmly placed in cheek.
