Hello, new to the forum. Also new fly fisherman. This weekend my son and I will be bumming around the Laurel Highland Trout Trail creeks and streams and was looking for some advice on what kinds of hatches might be prevalent this time of year there. Any tips would be great. Thanks!

In general this time of year on any freestone creek, small hoppers, beetles, ants, crickets, caddis and green weenies.

Parachute dry flies and elk hair caddis are also good.

It's called "prospecting." You walk up the creek, and throw dry flies upstream to likely looking pools, pockets and runs.

Don't expect any kind of heavy hatches.
