DEET? I never use it up there I use Z'Off and this other all natural stuff that works great up there. With the cool breeze this past weekend bugs weren't a problem up there at all this year. Every couple years we get lucky like that up there (and only once in a while is it truly God awful with bugs.) I can't see how you guys got really bit up. Most of us were talking about how few the blackflies & mosquitoes were.

Whiteface was sweet. The black flies were basically non existent on Saturday. Then Sunday on certain parts of the stream they were bad and got worse towards the end of the day. Monday was disgusting with them.

i go up to middle saranac lake every Columbus day weekend for a camping & canoeing trip on the islands, but have never fished the Ausable - last few years its been pretty low.

Good to hear that you got to try the Boobies lol

that Laker is a PIG. thats a fantastic fish from the shore - that would be a state record in most states,
