Saw this posted on another forum. Apparently the news is going around facebook.

Always wanted to write him a letter but never got around to it. RIP.

That's a damn bummer. Loved his books. My son and I saw him do a reading at the Somerset show a number of years back, was excellent.

RIP Troutbum

Sorry to read this. I think I have read and possess nearly all of his books. I particularly enjoyed his earlier books. His writing style was enjoyable, and I liked his attitude toward fly-fishing. Fly-fishermen who like to read are going to miss him.

Same here. Loved his books and always on the night stand.

He’s the one who piqued my interest in bamboo fly rods.

RIP

Rip, he will be sadly missed. I will dust off my full collection for a re read. Good Flies and how they got that Way influenced my tying for many years

RIP. GG

I just saw this today; also a big fan of his work. Currently have one of his books in my "Hospital" backpack where I keep my folders and medical stuff. Whenever I have to wait in a doctors office, for blood work, or a procedure, it enables for me to escape to a happier place. Thank you John!!

Johns early books were very inspiring in my early years of flyfishing, and as the years progressed, turning into decades, I never tired of his writings. I'm proud to own all of his books. He will be missed for sure.
Godspeed John, I'm sure you are casting an Adams with a Mike Clark bamboo rod somewhere!

This is sad news. Incredible ability to put you right with him in his words. I have all of his books and a few of them are signed copies. What I love most about his books, is that sometimes I have to re-read some passages as my mind would drift to my own fishing and places I have been by things he wrote. Hopefully there was one more book there that was ready for us..
