About 25 years ago we had a condition where there were too many sand eels. The marine biologists were worried that they would use up all the oxygen in the surf and we would have a massive red tide.
That year the small bluefish coming up the coast found the sand eels and stayed here all summer feeding. I remember John Bushell Sr. telling John Geiser that the fishing in July was more like October.
It looks like that's happening again this year but who knows how long it will last.

I hope it lasts for two more weeks I'm on vacation :-D

oh my, that is such wonderful news!

haven't been down to Jersey myself, but my neighbor has been fishing the Sandy hook area and says the bunker schools are still big, like 1/2 mile big. Not sure what the warm weather will do though.
