Wondering if anyone knows of any proven patterns for hybrid stripers? Seems like I have tried everything but no luck.

Olive over chartreuse or white clouser, deceiver or half and half.

GoldenFly,
The following list is what I have caught them on over the years at Lake Arthur.

Lefty's Deceivers
White, olive and black wooly buggers -- #4 -- #8
Clousers (all colors) #4 -- #8
Skipping Minnows (all colors, white preferred)
Pencil Poppers "
Gaines Poppers "
Gurgle Bugs (Fly version -- B&W)
Shenks White Minnow #4

That's just a partial list.

GENERALLY: If stripers are around they'll hit just about anything. COlor isn't critical but usually there is white in the pattern.

LAKE ARTHUR: These fish get pounded. Especially this time of year, By now they've seen just about every fly, plug, spoon, jig, etc. Bait guys are most effective now, at night -- generally after 10 or 11 pm.They can be frustrating. And many time you catch some great casting practice and that's it.

But tie into a 10 pounder that nearly rips the rod out of your hand takes you into backing in two blinks and bruises your knuckles and you become addicted. They'll have you coming back all yearlong at any time of day or night. I should know, I've been fly fishing for them since 1986 at the lake.

imo, they are the hardest fighting fish in our state, outside of steelhead.

Good luck. If you want more specific info, PM me.

I always caught them on shad plugs spin fishing, so I'd imagine the above suggestions would do fine.

gizzard shad patterns also in the lakes. they hit anything most times.
