How to Use a Bobbin Cradle on a Rotary Vise

I wondered what that thing was for!

Now that I’m tying smaller flies with my unsteady hands, I think I’ll be making more use of this accessory. This was the shortest and simplest video I found.

Wind your thread to the spot you want but before putting it in the bobbin cradle and rotating your vise, put in a couple of half hitches.

The half hitches will keep the thread from unwinding or slipping off over the hook eye.

Thanks! I didn’t think of that, and for smaller flies especially not securing the thread could be a mess.
