How to subscribe to a thread for notification

Never used this kind of forum software before, I'm unsure of how to subscribe to a thread and receive an email when there is a new reply to it. Is this not available? I don't even think i get notifications if I get a PM.

Hi,

Sorry the feature was turned off as it ended up choking the site with messages. We ended up having more than a million notices being sent out in different ways. Just much for the site.
