How much wind is too much?

Something to be aware of especially on the smaller streams in tight valleys are falling limbs/ tree tops

Yep. Just because it's sheltered down at stream level doesn't mean it is at tree top level. I've had several close calls and will no longer take the risk.

Brutal here today, haven't seen anything like it since a hurricane rolled through here 15 years ago.

Today was ok. Lots of evidence of fresh blow-downs on the hikes in, but I fished a couple of Brookie streams with ridges to their NW blocking the wind. Maybe every 15 minutes or so there'd be a gust that would roll through the tree tops, but I experienced little, if any, wind at ground level.

Windy days have their advantages in big river country such as the Yellowstone around Livingston Mt.--keeps the competition away but more enjoyable to fish nites in when warm enough.

If it's strong enough to blow shingles off my roof, I'm not goin' fishin'

Just for general amusement
