I was wondering what everyone’s favorite glass rod is I love fishing old and new glass . I currently own a Livingston ys glass 9’ 6wt, a Steffen 8’6” 5/6 wt , a phillipson tc 7’6” 6wt , proof lantern 7’ 3/4 wt , a generic s-glass 7’ 3wt . They all are awesome in there own way .

Hard to pick a favorite, although I seem to use my Orvis SFG 7'6" 4wt and Blue Halo 8' 5 wt more than the others.

I have a Livingston 8' 4wt on the way. I hope I like as much as I expect to.

Would love to here a review on the Livingston 4wt when you get it

Hard to pick a favorite as well, however these get the most attention:

6'6" 3wt Winston Retro
7'0" 3wt Tom Morgan Rodsmiths
8'0" 4wt Winston Retro
8'0" 5wt Mc Farland Spruce Creek (smooth blank)

I love my cheap eagle claw featherlight glass rod. 6'6" 3-4wt.

My favorite would be my Barclay 6'8" 3 wt. because I use it the most. Second is a Graywolf-built Steffen 8' 3/4 wt.

I love fishing glass.

I just picked up a 8'6" 6/7 Steffen rod for bass that I am really excited about using (built by the Steffen bros!).

My two favorite glass rods -

7'4" McFarland Spruce Creek built by Leiderman. I used this almost exclusively on my trip to Montana last year. It was incredible how it could throw big foamy flies and land 18" cutthtroats.

6'6" Barclay Blue Ridge Special. PERFECT brookie rod.

I have a cheap Cabelas CGR, I believe in 3wt that is a joy to fish in small waters.

My favorite is a Scott F2 723/5 (7'-2" 3wt 5 pc).

2nd is one I built. A 7'-6" 3wt 3pc.

I've had others over the years, but these are the only ones at the moment. The Scott is my go-to brookie rod. I've been tempted by C. Barclay's rods for a while now.

Can't pick just one.

  • Scott F series 2pc 7'6" for 4wt.
  • McFarland yellow glass (built out by Shane Gray) 3pc 8' for 5wt.
  • Larry Kenney built Scott Pow R Ply yellow glass 2pc 8' for 7wt.

I've owned a few and love them second only to bamboo. I had a Hardy 7 1/2 footer, and McFarland 71/2 ft 5wt (fabulous) and an Echo 7'3" four weight. I love smooth, medium action rods.
