So someone gave me some gator skin and said tie a fly with it so. Anyone ever try it and if so what did you make. I kinda stumped with it. What would you think it would be good for. Frog legs, tails, wing cases. Add your thoughts.

Are you talking about REAL alligator skin or the Wapsi stuff?

If it's the Wapsi stuff, folks use it for caddis, mayfly & stonefly wings because of the veination in the material.

If you are talking about real alligator skin, I'd make a wallet or pair of shoes out of it. ;)

Real gator skin. Only got a little patch.

If it's thin, soft & pliable, I'd try using it for the over-back or shell of a crawdad pattern. I used to tie my crawdads with chamois before discovering Furry Foam. When the "leather" gets wet, it gets nice & pliable.

Many moons ago I caught a huge trout on the Letort with one of my chamois crawdads. :)
