Sensitivity in a Fly Rod -- Two Very Different Ways

How much can we feel the fly at the end of the line? And how well does the fly rod transmit the flex to the angler? These are two kinds of sensitivity.

When it comes to feeling my flies, I don't think any of my rods do it better than my SAGE ESN HD 3wt 10', you practically feel like you are transmitting your fingers to your flies. It's a surreal experience.

I'll say IM6 is superior in every way to IM8,9,10, 1024 doesn't matter.

I agree with sixfootfenwick. I have three IM6 rods and love them. I also have an Orvis 8'6wt. Rocky Mountain Superfine rod from 1993. Not sure if it is IM6 but it is darn close. Only paid $185 for it. The early Winston rods were IM6 graphite.
