Hello, I am new to the forum and I am planning on fishing the Ohiopyle area the Saturday coming up. I was planning on Meadow run or Laurel Hill Creek. Anyone have any suggestions on what dry flies and nymphs to use there and which one of the streams would be better? Thank you

007,

I fished Meadow Run last November with a guide from Wilderness Voyageurs so I am partial to this stream. This is a really cool place to fish. It is scenic and holds lots of big trout. I caught a couple of lunkers. Here are a few flies for that area:

hares ear /Bead head /soft hackle
Copper John
Pheasant Tail-Bead Head
BWO
Rusty Spinner
Elk hair caddis

Streamers:
Clouser
Whoolly Bugger

I recommend the guide if you need one. I parked just outside of town and fished the delayed harvest area. There is also a cool waterfall further up the trail.

Hope this helps,

Meadow and Laurel Hill are good choices.
However - providing it has decent flows - my first choice would be the river.
Wading is tough around Ohiopyle. You'd be better off driving up to confluence, where things are much easier.
If you want to get real adventurous, bike or float the river below confluence and ohiopyle
