Fishing during rifle seasons

Refer to second part of the sentence. Unless deer have somehow become aquatic without my knowledge, nobody should be hunting close enough to my back cast to have any issues.
Anglers would potentially lose a number of fishing spots in York and Lancaster Co open to fishing but on private lands if they did not take hunting and hunters into consideration. In many sections, the forested riparian lands are where the deer are located and the landowners, who or whose families hunt, donā€™t want them disturbed by anglers in fall and early winter.

It's a common courtesy thing. It's not that difficult. It's only a couple months out of the year and frankly, the hunters don't mind as long as the anglers are being respectful about how they enter and leave the area.

Just as the anglers wouldn't mind as long as other people coming and going near or respectfully. In relation to them did it respecfully.

Also of note, I shot a 13 pt buck 2 years ago about 75 feet from a type 3 trout stream in Michigan. Deer love the water and cross the rivers and streams all the time.

Just be safe and courteous.

That's a nice buck.

I've seen many deer cross even through larger rivers. I was duck hunting this year and heard one helluva commotion..I thought a ton of ducks or geese had snuck in and landed hard in the water near me. Nope, a buck was just running like crazy past the island I was on and exited the river. It was quite the surprise to see a buck running right there only 10 yards away.

Duck hunters should always be given a wide berth. The effort required to set out decoys and build a blind is huge. You may have walked/boated in a few hundred yards but they've done much more.

So if it doubles then the locals have the same amount of DUI's as the hunters coming up. It's the law of averages. The locals are just as drunk as the out of town hunters.

People tend to commit crimes where they live. Iā€™m not sure why youā€™re surprised by the this.

This influx of people at deer camp results in ( by my non scientific anecdotal observations) as a 100 percent increase in the DUI arrests. Iā€™ll continue to make sure we donā€™t need to travel after dark while the camps are in.

Forested riparian lands are phenomenal for deer habitat. Big deer and lots of them.

I wish this was better known among landowners. Many landowners try to improve deer hunting on their land by planting food plots. But a wide forested riparian buffer would vastly improve deer habitat on many properties.

Do you keep a spreadsheet on this?

I donā€™t. Itā€™s pretty obvious to see the correlation though. Itā€™s not nearly as bad as it used to be. The mid 80s were pretty wild.

Iā€™d be more than willing to start documenting this information for you. Iā€™ll keep a spreadsheet for next season.

Perhaps because you live in town, you donā€™t see the same things that I do. Iā€™ve seen enough drunks out after dark during deer season to know that I donā€™t want my wife and kids to have to drive over 44 while guys go from the bar back to camp.
