First smallie on the fly

Since its been squelching hot I decided to give the trout a break and try for some carp on the fly with my new 7 weight. Well, I found some smallies and lost one on a black bugger and then tied on a clouser and this one choked it! Great fight and definitely something I'll be trying again.

Nice bass. Clousers are sure fire SM flies. Tie up a gurgler style popper for some fun.

Nice bass. Fly fishing for smallies is a lot of fun, especially in the fall. I am surprised more people don't get in on the action. A lot of guys hang up their fly rod when the water gets too warm for trout. They don't know what kind of awesome fight they are missing out on.
