Thanks for the tips.... Sounds like a quick tie. Also, if you tie option 2 and want a brighter underbody, use the tag end of the thread to counterwrap rather than breaking it off. Doing this will add that second layer of thread and might brighten up the fly a bit.

My 2 favorite soft hackles are the partridge and orange and the March brown . I think the most effective "spider" pattern
