Heading to San Juan at the end of April and wanted any advice or recommendations for fishing on my own or experience with guides. I'm going for a wedding and would like to fish at least once. Not sure If I'll bring a fly rod but may consider it if there are ample opportunities. It looks like snook and tarpon are popular target species at this time of year.
Thank in advance

Just got back Sunday. Did not get to fish. Was there for a wedding and had lots of other things planned with the group. They do have a good snook and tarpon fishery. Also looked into fishing for peacock bass which they have quite a few outfitters taking trips inland. If I go back with more time I will definitley go a few times as the prices were cheap compared to east coast charters.

$375 4hr peacock bass trip for 4 people
$425 for 4hr tarpon, snook, ladyfish, and jack, light tackle 4 people
$1200 for 8 hour offshore trip
