I also dislike clump tail fibers.
I tie all of my "catskill" flies with divided microfibbett tails.
They support the fly better, and look nicer IMO

This is how I tie my dry flies as well! Every single style I tie like this.

I'll second the value of Microfibbets - they're by far the best tail material when you're seeking to get realistic form and function on mayfly imitations. This is particularly true for tricos, but also, IMO on parachute sulpher duns as well. Microfibbets are a great invention.
