I've always considered myself an average fly fisherman at best. I think I've become a slightly better than average fly fisherman, but literally only within the last year. Prior to that I struggled at times to catch fish on fly gear, but I always did do fairly well in the summertime on a dry dropper. I tend to use a pretty high floating/bushy dry fly and a very small beadhead underneath it (I want the dropper fly to get under the surface, but not necessarily WAY under the surface). I typically use a slightly longer dropper than many guys do, probably 20-24".
