The Fish Com. Just put out a warning not to eat any fish from the Shenago dam down stream. The PCP level in fish were ten times over the safety limits. We get our tap water from the section of the river. So don't eat the fish but the waters okay to drink. Sounds mighty fishy to me. Pun intended.

The PCBs concentrate in the fat as I understand it and then become a true human hazard. Imbibing small amounts that might get through treatment for tap water is not as harmful, I would guess.

PCBs accumulate in sediment, not water. It's extremely unlikely any PCBs make it to your tap water.

PCBs also become concentrated as you move up the food chain. Organic material grown in the sediment concentrates PCBs which are then concentrated more by bugs that eat the organic material, and are concentrated once more by fish who eat the bugs.

At least the water doesn't smell like cat **** anymore.
