Thought I would report on three Dr. Slick products purchased from board advertiser Sierra Trading Post.

4 1/2 inch clamps. These have smooth jaws, not serrated. This allows hook and fly removal with less damage to the fly, less wear and tear on the portion of your vest that you clamp it to, and a truer mashing of a hook barb if you use it for that (smaller hooks, say # 12 and under). The finger holes are roughly the same as the Dr. Slick scissors. If you like to hold your scissors in your hand while you tie you may appreciate the familiarity. Standard hemos tend to have finger holes that are too small. I also like the shorter length than standard hemos since it flops around less on your vest and manipulating them seems more nimble. Also has one of those needle points in the handle for cleaning out a hook eye, or for starting to pry open a split shot.

3 1/2 inch bent shaft scissors. The finger holes are a tad smaller than on other Dr. Slick scissors that I own. I nevertheless like them, carry them in my hand while tying, as usual, and have found that I like to be able to get a different angle of approach to various parts of the fly by turning the scissors over. Nice and sharp and cuts as well as any scissor I own. At the price I should have also gotten the 4 inch, but already have too many scissors. Note that these are not a gold loop version.

Spring Iris Scissors, 4 inch. Have not had a chance to evaluate. Off hand I think they would be more useful if the blades were more narrow, so you can get in for that occasional tight snip. Bit of a flimsy feel to them as well, but then I am accustomed to the standard scissors.

All three are so inexpensive that if you dont like them, just toss them.

Why did you feel the need to add inexpensive to the title??

I'd say his last line explains that.

Update. The Iris Scissors are ok, but even at 5 bucks, I would not bother. The other two items are great, especially at the price.

Also, I can't get the links to work, but if you highlight and copy the entire URL, paste it in your browser and hit enter, you go to that page, at least for now. The products are still there.

The whole link has to be highlighted. Which it is not allowing.
