Cross Fork

Also curious to know since the Northwoods Cabin is no longer available. Loved that place.

Anyone ever stay at Troyers Wagon wheel cabins up there to fish ?
Any good?
Thanks
Nope. I did spend some time at a log B&B which was excellent. The Lodge at Kettle Creek in Cross Fork. But I wouldn’t fish in that area ever. Supposed to be ground zero for a massive comet impact any time now. Actually waaay past due. Most of the rattlesnakes have dug deep into the earth. Even the living dead have evacuated!

I will be sure to stay as far away as possible!

While you all are staying away, you shouldn’t stop at Deb’s and get a cheeseburger sub and a Busch (on draft), either. And I mean Busch heavy, not latte. And if the ham/bean soup is on, forget about it. Stay south of I80.

I can attest to the sanctity of the fries.

Any bar that has busch heavy or the french import on draft is A+ in my book. I find more in the midwest but there are some unicorns around PA.

I've stayed there, but it was long ago, probably late 1990s or early 2000s, so things may have changed.

At that time, the price was very reasonable. The cabins were old, not fancy at all, and had that funky old cabin mildew smell, but we were just looking for a cheap place to stay to go fishing, so it was OK.

I've been thinking recently about going there again, if the price is still moderate.

Does Phil still have his shop there? Haven't been up in a while.
Since I like risky places (as per my death from flyfishing thread demonstrates) I might load up the RV and head up to Ole Bull this spring.

Last time I was up there Phil had some nice short fiberglass small stream rods. One of which is now in my arsenal.

Yeah, he is still there..

Time for the Phil stories!

What’s Phil’s last name? I may have bought something from his shop.

That’s the guy. Bought some fly floatant there a while back and some flies. I always buy something when asking for advice. I find that sometimes something green loosens tongues.

Was in his shop April of last year.
He's getting a little hard of hearing.
But still had nice conversation with him.

Just love browsing there
Always find oddball stuff that you dont see anywhere else
