Actually, the book "The Vanishing Trout", by Charles Lose, covers a lot of this throughout the book. Including creel numbers of the time.

Is this book Pennsylvania centric?

Yes it focuses on the Loyalsock Creek in Lycoming and Sullivan Co in the early 1900s. Alot of historical info on logging practices as well as fishing activity.

The other day I was in a fishing Mom and Pop store. I bought me a new baitcasting rod.....I thought I was helping the local economy - however in the conversation, the lady informed me that they were not hurting for business because of the increase in # of fisherpersons. I believe that with the increase in people fishing - will probably led to the decrease in numbers you will catch as well as the numbers you can keep.

That's a great story.
