I have a cousin that goes, fish the beaches for rooster fish. the rivers have a fish like bass. there's sailfishing and trevally off shore.

Never been to CR. As Sandfly points out, it's best known in the FFing community as a destination for roosterfish which are mainly targeted by boat anglers but can be caught from the surf. For the most part CR is renowned for its blue water fishing for large marlin. Keep in mind, however, that just about anywhere in the tropics and sub-tropics there are various and sundry reef fishes and snappers, jacks etc that will munch a fly with enthusiasm and put up a great fight for their size.
