Me and and my dad are gonna be at the Lancaster Fly Fishing show on saturday. Figured since we’re in the area, we might as well get some fishing done after we leave the show. Considering the majority of the trout streams in the area aren’t open yet, I’ve been considering trying the Conestoga for Smallies. Been looking at some spots not very far upriver from where it enters the susquehanna. So my question is, Is it worth it to target smallies this early? And if so is the Conestoga a valid option for this time of year? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 😁

Never fished it that early in the year. In the summer it’s ok at best. The bridge along river road is going to have some deeper water so maybe they have moved up there but they are most lonely in their wintering holes ok the susky. Also, that’s pretty dang far from the fly show. There are not straightforward roads to get there.

yeah thought for sure it was a big bass at first, put up a good fight even on a 7 weight, couldn’t believe the size of it.

Nice, I forgot the show is no longer at the Host by the outlets. That’s a little more of a haul from that direction. Congrats on the freshwater bonefish!
