fished the big "d" today for shad. heavy caddis hatch with high winds. anything in the lea was pretty much covered. tons on the water and crawling up my waders. water temp was around 52. wind pretty much blew me off the river.

I’ve gotten out on the delaware a handful of times this year, seems like every time i’m out theirs a ton of caddis hatching.

Two different varieties of course. I would like to know what color their abdomen was, please.
Green or a fuzzy tan/light brown or grey?
The green body ones are early season in many streams in Pa., but the Delaware has so many different things hatching, with the temperature differences.
How did it go with the shad?

i never really looked as to the caddis body colors so i can't say for sure and the shad fishing in the low water with high winds was pretty much non-existent. getting the drift right when 25mph winds are blowing your line all over is tough.

hit the river again this morning for shad. no big caddis hatch today. had 15 hookups with 9 landed in about 2 hours of fishing before the cold front and the 25-40 mph gusts literally blew me off the river. for those that have never caught a fresh American shad running up a freshwater river, you are missing out. shad are easily the hardest fighting and drag ripping fish i catch in freshwater. had a couple leaping roes today that looked like tarpon flying out of the water. big fun.
