Hey folks,

My wife and I are looking to rent a cabin between Christmas and New Years somewhere in the mountains of PA for a couple of nights... close to or along a trout stream. Any ideas? I've looked on home away and vrbo, but haven't found much. We don't need a lot for amenities - a roof over our heads and a fire to keep us warm - and would love to be in the woods and some trails to walk on and a stream to catch trout on. Last year we stayed at the Nature's Inn in Bald Eagle State park and absolutely loved it. We may just end up going back there, but would like to explore a more secluded experience if possible.

Not sure if this is the right forum to post on, so feel free to move the post if needed.

Thanks for any insight!

-Michael

Mike Ludwig has two cabins near Blackwell close to Pine Creek, Slate and Cedar Run. Close to rails to trails, nice cabins and reasonable

Those look like a possibility - thanks!

Not a cabin this is a B&B. Also not right on the stream but several good Poconos streams are minutes away. Lots of hiking trails in the park. The wife and I have stayed here several times. Top notch place!

We rented Mike's cabins every labor day for years and I would second this. We preferred the Ponderosa, but they were both nice.

check out the wellsboro area. lots of secluded cabins along pine creek and your wife would love wellsboro.

I second the Kettle Creek Lodge and Cabins. My family stayed there quite a bit when I was growing up, as my mom did not enjoy spending full weeks at our family hunting camp. Walk 100 yards down the side of the hill and you're on Little Kettle. Walk down the road a quarter mile and you're on Kettle.

Awesome! Thanks so much guys! This gives us some good options. We love getting up into the mountains in the winter. Thanks again!

I will third Kettle Creek lodge. You can stay in the lodge itself (sort of motel-room like) and pick up a breakfast and a nice fireplace to boot. Or rent a whole cabin and have that as your personal palace for a spell. Only challenge maybe availability -dunno if that is a popular vacation time or not. Lots of streams around for sure but fishing will definitely be slower that time of year.

Not sure if you have seen it, but this site provides some good options.
