Yes, poor duck indeed - was hoping he'd get away.
There are many tall tales and exaggerated stories of muskies and pike eating all sorts of animals and biting humans. Nevertheless, a very large pike such as the one in this video really can consume large and unusual prey items.
Studies have suggested that muskellunge prefer prey fishes that are roughly one third (!) their own body length. Think about that: a 50 muskie likes to eat fish - and presumably other critters - that are sixteen inches long! It's highly unlikely your fly or lure is too large.
Sure, there are tall tales and phoney stories out there... but think how many fish and small animals fit this size range. Even small ducks aren't safe.
