Bugger Question

Just curious...

Since I don't have any hackles for buggers except in black, has anyone ever tied a bugger using maribou for the hackle? Would it work? I might experiment a little bit.

Yeah I did that for a yellow bugger. Works just fine at catchin fish. Caught a few SMB on it.

There's the technique. It works well. I find the fly to be too bulky if I put a chenille body on it. The marabou provides plenty of bulk.

any hackle from a cape on the sides will work, do ya have a grizzly, ginger etc cape..
