Broke another rod

I slipped on some rocks and broke the tip section of my 9' 6-wt. rod yesterday morning. I had an extra metal tip at home, so I cut another couple inches off the rod and superglued another tip on. It'll probably do for nymph fishing, but we'll have to see. (I do have a couple other rods, both 8'6" that I can use. They're now 2 inches longer than my former 9' rod.)

That makes at least 6 broken rods in the past 5 years.

I broke about 3" off of a 9' 6" 6 wt and performed the same repair, new tiptop on the broken end. It has remained in service just fine. Feels a hair faster than it did before...

I broke literally just the tip off an old Sage LL rod awhile back.. . . just epoxied a new tip onto the broken section. It's now 8'8" rather than 8' 9". Hard to believe that one inch can make a difference but the rod does have a very slightly faster feel to it.

Glued a new tip top on, but the 9 ft 10 inch just doesn't fish the same

Being older I find myself falling more when on the stream. In the past 3-4 years I broke my Echo nymph rod and my beloved Sage LL. Also bent my Hardy Featherweight. My replacement stuff is mostly lower to mid grade stuff. Anyone want to loan me their bamboo for the weekend?

I can relate to the stumbling on the stream. Tough to get old.
Curious tho - you bent your Hardy rod? How does one bend a graphite rod and not break it?

About 1000 years ago when I was young and agile, I somehow bent the frame on my Hardy LRH...

I continued fishing it for another 20+ years before buying another reel as a replacement.

It wasn’t quite 1000 years ago, but the first time I went to England many years back I went to the Hardy’s store on Pall Mall in London and bought a pair of Lightweight reels for about $25.00 each. At those prices you could just about throw a reel away if you bent the frame.

After buying those reels I bought a dozen salmon flies (I don’t remember how much they cost, but I thought they were pretty😍) then I walked down the street to Farlows and bought a bamboo fly rod for $45.00. Sometime later I did break the tip on that rod, but I still have it and didn’t throw it away - maybe because it was so expensive. 🤨
