I was out on the upper BW last night and saw a consistent hatch of “something”. Appeared to be fairly large (12-14) brown with noticeably large tails. Does anyone know what I was seeing?

A bit early but sounds like a slate drake (Iso).

Not sure about this hatch but the BW in spots has a nice white fly hatch

Thanks all. I suspect Isonychia might be the right answer. I will see if I can get down there again this week and check it out more closely.

I have been out fishing on the West Branch a few times recently and noticed these bigger brown bugs. I thought march brown, but I did not catch one to have a closer look. Appeared more olive/brown to me than I would expect a slate drake? (I have seen many march browns in person, but have never captured a slate drake - only looking at online pictures). Have seen tremendous sulphur hatches at dusk as well.
