does anyone fish tidal water for carp on the fly ?
what bait would they be feeding on ?
I saw at the local river dam/weir today four very large common carp - two around 12-15lbs and one big boy of 20 plus, and a tiddler, just above the tidal limit (by about 20 feet)
they were mooching the side of the white water and taking something from it - due to the current strength and their size i'm thinking its not nymphs, worms, seeds or berries but something worth their expended energy ?
these were not your usual rapid water sleek slim 'racer; carp but real fatties - 8" or 10" across the shoulders, more like lake carp.
I can only think that fish that big that can hold in a dam race would go like stink on a 9wt.
but what to chuck ?
cheers
