Anyone tie these? Just read an interesting article on the. Any experiences using them? I need to start tying for sure but need to get a vise. Now that I sold my company I have some time. Might have to pick some up.

They talked about

clear simuliid larvae
rising black fly adult
and mini black fly larvae

Heard of any of these?

In the book "Midge Magic" by Holbrook and Koch, Holbrook discusses black fly larvae and pupas and list several patterns.

try this #16 hook and thread, thats all i use in olive and black..

just use a zebra midge...throw some clear nail polish on it to make it sink
