Any Big Ones?

Ok

Ok got ya. Always som Debbie Downers lol. Thanks for clarifying,
Yea I don’t get the ire. They are expanding their range upstream locally in many cases and as much as we love them in reality their still an invasive species. If someone catches a huge one and is proud and wants to harvest it who is anyone to criticize if legal. Heck if I am in a brook trout stream I practice conservation harvest of legal browns. Yea I didn’t get it when that whole fiasco erupted and it prompted the fish commission to make the “migratory brown trout” rule.

What is the "migratory brown trout rule?"
The fish commission felt large brown trout needed to be protected for some reason lol so they made a rule that from stocked trout water to the Chesapeake bay trout are catch and release. Some anglers refer to as the “migratory brown trout rule” which is kind of funny cause all trout move but different topic for different day. Forget if year round or seasonal. Back when I used to be a lurker only I saw alot of hoopla about it.

I think it’s just the fall, winter and early spring they are catch and release. You can keep big browns from rivers in the summer though. If I’m understanding the rule correctly.

It doesn't matter. They didn't break the law, and a 30" fish is likely very close to dying of natural mortality at any time. It's an old fish.

Some people will be mad at someone for doing anything.

Just think of the countless Gemmie lives that were spared if that thing were to run up Big Spring. I think that’s something we can all get behind.

Yea seriously valid point, I love fishing for big beautiful buttery browns but we need to decide where to protect them like the last white rhino for social/fishing reasons and other places to practice the good old fashion “Brown’d Up” for the sake of the state fish. I mean many anglers already kinda do that in brookie streams but I’m talking about the fish commission who are supposed to be setting the example lol, instead we got protections to the chesapeake and harassing anglers doing nothing wrong by keeping em for the table.
