Ants for Brown Trout

Here is a half sinking half floating pattern that I have used with some success.
The need for the pattern was demonstrated to me by some finiky fish on Fishing Creek. A friend and I were dropping parachute ant patterns on small pocket water under trees. About every other cast a fish would dart up and then turn away from the fly. Our conclusion was because the fish could see the parachute (white and orange).
I went home and came up with this pattern. The bubble of foam allows the fly to float and remain seen by the angler, but not the fish; well from the bottom at least.

JayL,
I'm going to tie up some of you pattern -- it looks awesome.

Ants, and Beetles–even larger attractor patterns can draw fish. I changed to a flying ant imitation and caught about a dozen trout and by the way, they were mostly all brown trout. And I think its fact that Brown trout are especially attracted to ants.

Ants are murder on brook trout, too.
