I tied Jack Gartside's Sparrow Nymph at the Fly Tying Jam back in December. Here is a variant of that pattern that I tied specifically with carp in mind. After looking at the end results I don't think I would hesitate to fish this fly for smallies or for trout for that matter but it is something with a little differnent look to throw at those big old carp for a bit of a change up when needed. I am going to tie them in some different colors including a brighter green color to imitate a damselfly nymph. I included lead wire and the bead chain eyes to get it down into the silt real quick and ride hook up in front of those muddin' carp. Here is a pic and the recipe for the pattern as I tied it.
