FYI - There are a number of "orphan dams" slated for removal in PA this year.

The dams on the Perkiomen will not impact any of the trout habitat but should improvement migratory fish passage. Historically there were shad using the river up to Hosensack Creek, though I'm not sure if this information is realistic or not. But Shad did use Perkiomen Creek.
Removal of the dams should also be beneficial to the small mouth bass population and other panfish. The populations of these fish have taken a nose dive in the last few years, though I suspect that was probably do to floods.
