Alternative to epoxy

You have to streamline the head much more, that glob of stuff looks horrible. Also, adding some red krystal flash that extends away from the body will wiggle in the water creating a more life like fly. Shorter hooks will help the bucktail move more freely, and the white tied back futher will keep the wing from fouling as much. Proportional eyes to the size of the body and a contrasting lateral line krystal flash are important as well.

1: the hook is fine for clousers, I studied under bob for years.
2: look the white is tied to the hook bend.
3: that red looks like crap, tie it in before the silver will look better.
4: I have silver flash tied in for the lateral line.
5: The eyes are the right size for the hook.
6: the head has frabric paint on it there for it has to dry and shrink yet. ( it has to be applied thick, for it to dry right)
this is a demo for the head finish.

I will post a finished fly for all to see today.

I have over done this clouser (for Tom's sake ) but you get the idea. There is a slight shrinkage in the drying time, so you might want to over size the amount a bit.

I'm thinking 24/7 didn't bother to read your post.
