2025 Fly Fishing Ambitions

I haven’t fished a great deal locally the last couple years with my wife having gone back to school for a career change and a young son to prioritize. Now the wife is done and set up in her new job, my ambition is just to enjoy some regular, chill fishing without needing it to be ‘perfect’ due to limited days on the water. Also, I want at least one catch on the cicada flies I got talked into tying 😂😂

I would like to get to mountains more than last year. Explore some new streams and spend more time on some of my favorites. After 2 weddings in the family in 2024, one being at our property, my time away was limited last year.

In 2025 I'd like to try out some new streams both local to me and around PA. I didn't fish in Central PA and the Catskills as much as I wanted to in 2024, so that's definitely a goal.

I'd like to get back out west and/or up north to Maine as well.

As much as I love fly fishing for trout, I hope to spend more time exploring and learning small mouth waters and techniques.

As a very new fly fisher I hope to explore some more local waters. Also a possible guided Little J trip in June. I want to continue learning how to tie and catch my first fish on something I made myself. Learning how to read the water and improve my casting are on the list too.

I'm thinking keep more stockers in 2025. One of my new buddies smokes them so somebody will eat them up. I'm curious to see how the smoking process changes the look of the orange skin Palomino.
Living in a new area, my hope is to find a place that comes to mind when somebody says " honey hole".
