I’ve only been fishing this area for about a year, but this is definitely the prettiest one I’ve gotten.Nice fish for that part of the river. The patterns on the upper part are gorgeous. Is that common in the Lambertville area? I don’t remember the smallies I used to catch in the Yardley area looking that unique.
From the flooding of my social media from local fisherman and Facebook groups I think it’s safe to say they are in the creeks spawning. I’m not sure what the ethics is here, with trout there is conversation about not fishing over spawning trout but with smallies it’s like it’s open season on the Susky.Has anyone done any wade fishing on the Susquehanna or Juniata this spring for smallmouth?
I don’t target smallmouth that are on spawning beds. If I see them, I won’t cast at them. From the flooding of my social media from local fisherman and Facebook groups I think it’s safe to say they are in the creeks spawning. Didn’t mean that you were. Was just bringing up that it seems there is an abundance of anglers taking advantage of the opportunity of obvious spawning locations on the Susky system. I genuinely don’t understand why it’s more accepted to fish on spawning bass than spawning trout.I don’t target smallmouth that are on spawning beds. If I see them, I won’t cast at them.
