very limited tying experience here. I took a tying class years ago because my Grandaughter wanted to learn how. Did very little fly fishing (about twice) and haven't tied in almost 15 years. Now that I'm retired and disabled I won't be able to wade much but I would like to pester the panfish at Lake Arthur.

Dear fatoldman,

Welcome aboard. Without going into specifics, just how disabled are ya? If you can sit in a chair and flop your feet around, then a float tube might make a great addition to your fishing at Lake Arthur.

If you aren't familiar with float tubes, there are many options. Here is one example that I use as a fat guy. It's not currently available anymore, but if you have interest in tubing, I can help you out.

Regards,

Tim Murphy 🙂

Maybe someday I'll try a float tube but probably not this year. I walk with a cane and don't have good leg strength. I had back surgery that didn't go well and left me hobbled. I was doing quite well with my therapy and then I got stupid and rolled my lawn tractor over on myself. Spent a year and a half getting over that. Just about back to where I was before the accident so this year just getting to fish again will be huge.

Dear fatoldman,

I'd never spend your money for you, but there are inflatable tube options that can be motorized with electric motors.

Deal with what you have to deal with and get healthy first and foremost. I'll help you get on the water when that time comes. I promise you that!

Regards,

Tim Murphy 🙂

You have to careful with that in PA...

IF the inflatable is defined as a float tube, mechanical propulsion is prohibited in Pennsylvania...

Thanks guys. I would've never thought about an inflatable. I hope this is a good summer. Two years ago I had gone through some good therapy and started going to the local Y. I was able to do some fishing again. On Sept 13 2023 I had what I considered one of my best fishing days ever. Great morning. I felt so good I didn't listen when my wife told me not to mow the grass when I was home alone. Laid in the backyard for about two hours till my neighbor found me. Rather embarrassing when all your neighbors in the fire department have to haul you out of the backyard. Now I'm healed, finally got released by the doc last November, been through therapy again and ready to go back to the Y. Things are looking good. Now I need to catch all those fish I haven't been catching.
