Deer body hair

Can anyone tell me the difference besides color and what i’d use each for? The dark one feels about 1/4” loft, lighter one about 1/2”.

As far as length goes I typically like the shorter stuff for wings on dry flies. I don't tie anything over a size 12, and I rarely tie streamers so I don't like the longer stuff.
