Tied up this pattern few days ago and the trout have been pretty good to them. Might want to give them a shot in your area.

Thread, palmered wire, little puff of head dubbing, or just play with permanent markers.
 
It's a red miracle midge. Try em in white... killer.
 
Try black and copper (Black Beauty) on a curved hook in a 20. Deadly in limestone creeks, or anywhere there are lots of midges.
 
yep, got a couple of them in my box.
 
You can also tie in some krystal flash before you make the dubbing head. It's amazing all the little variations of Al's Rats's and they take twenty seconds to tie and even a beginner can tie them. Funny, the simplest patterns catch more fish. I tie all of my midge larvae with curved hooks. It looks more life like to me.
