I was just messin around trying to find some new flies to tie with the materials I have and I was looking at streamer patterns and saw the black ghost, so I made my version of the it. Here it is what do you think?

I used black floss, tinsel, olive marabou, and cream saddle hackle. I tied up a few and I guess i'll try fishing them.

will it catch fish....

Just a story for ya. I was fishing my yearly pot luck dinner/family fishing event with my church a few years back. Was helping this kid across the private lake in taking all his fish off the hook. He was fishing worms and ran out. He dropped his BARE hook into the water and caught a 2-3" bass fry. I told him to just keep it on and toss it as far as he can. He thew it in, and within 2 seconds the bobber went under and he came back with a 16" largemouth!

from bare hook to 16" bass in 10 seconds... BEAT THAT!

so all in all, yeah, that will catch fish! :-D

it will certainly catch fish - may try to tie up my own version of that today

One more question...How would I go about fishing these? I'm assuming either swing it or strip it slow.

both...looks a lot like this...

During my third year of flyfishing I focused on streamers. Buck tails mostly, black nosed dace, mickey fins, thundercreeks, etc. Then I tied a black ghost and it became my favorite soon after. I must be out of them because I have not used one in years. I'll have to tie some up and go see if they are still in vogue.

Try the Grey Ghost as well. It had a bit of mallard on the side to give a fuller effect near the head. A red body ribbed with silver and a couple or three peacock herl strends over the wing. I remember having a great time with then one year.

Google showed a bunch of different versions, so I just kind of went with what you said and here is what I ended up with.

I was fishing with a friend and using some of my first tied flies.
a hatch came off and he put a dry fly on and changed it a few times trying to match the hatch. I put on a black stonefly one of the first I tied and instead of sinking it floated and I caught three rainbows till it finally went under. I guess I was just having a good day but in either case it should catch a fish if your having a good day... Fred

i fished the 2nd fly at valley creek when nothing was working and got my only fish of the day on it.
