The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy bought the land and opened it to the public.
There are conservancies throughout the state that purchase land to be designated as green spaces with no development allowed and many of these lands have streams running through the land.
Money donated to these organizations is well spent, IMHO.
Try seeking out a conservancy in your area and help them out monetarily and/or volunteering your time.
