Trying to get better with my bugs this was last year on the west branch. I know it’s a mayfly — i’ve crossed off a sulphur, hendricksons al thought the pics of female hendricksons look somewhat similar. I know with the black wings i should be able to narrow it down even more but still having trouble doing so

thanks.. i crossed isos off too cuz of the date and the yellow legs but after looking at some more pics it looks pretty similar so thank you

When did you see this critter? What size is it? It looks undercooked to me.
Some quill gordons and light Hendrickson still going currently

this was May 17th of 2023. I got it handed to me last year on our float and cheated and used my nymph rod.. We are planning on going back up either the second week of may or June.. Just trying to cross all my i’s before we go as far as knowing my bugs

that’s also what threw me off too was how small it was too

That time of year should have been grey fox, sulphur or possible steno variant.

Wings don't say grey fox or steno variety. That's too early for cornuta. Based on DRC hatch report from
5-17-23....

Dark Hendrickson – #16- E. subvaria (male)
Dark Blue Wing Olive – #16 – 18 – Baetis vagans
Blue Quill – #16 – 18 – Paraleptophlebia adoptiva
March Brown – #10-2xl – M. vicarium
Gray Fox – 12-2xl – M. vicarium
Light Cahill – #14 – E. invaria

sweet thank you. i’ll be back on with how i do when we get back
