Is there a gadged to hold a very small fly (#22) in place while tying it to the tippet? I do have a clamp forceps but was thinking a smaller pen-like device.

Thanks,

Or midge threaders.

Thanks for suggestion, but I am ok with threading, I just had trouble with handling.

It's easy to make your own. Take apart an old ball point pen, pull the point from the tube, blow out the ink and rinse the rest out until its clean. You can use rubbing alcohol. Mix up some epoxy and fill the end to the tube. Take a short piece of monofilament, form a U shape and insert the free ends in the tube far enough so that when the pen is retracted the fly will be held against the tip of the pen.

+ 1 on the midge threader. I have one of the new C & F threader box chest patches and they are very nice.

Thanks for the suggestions, following the pen suggestion I thought to try a mechanical pencil (2mm). What do you know, it works nicely as it is with flies from #16 to #26!
