I recently started tying again after loosing 30+ years worth of stuff in a flood back in 96. I recall using a material for nymph bodies that was plastic wire like material, half round in cross section that was about 3 or 4 mm wide and available in various colors. Can't remember the name or maker, it may have been called swanandaze or something like that but spelled correctly.

Anyone know of or remember this stuff? Is it still available?

Thanks, FDH

Thanks for the reply, but aren't both of those flat ? With a half round cross section this stuff made a great nymph body with very natural segments.

you were close-swannundaze was popular back in the early 80's.

I looked through some old tying materials and found two colors-

stonefly brown and dk olive Also found an old matarelli bobbin-ty!

Anyway, i remember this stuff being difficult to tie with, I always

steamed or ran it under hot water before use, but it made for some

nice nymph bodies. it was manufactured by FA Johnson out of

Lyndhurst, NJ. if this helps. Try ebay as I haven't seen it in shops or

catalogs for a long time.

Nope, its round, http://www.jsflyfishing.com/cgi-bin/item/SM-750202-0000?source=google_base&kw=SM-750202-0000

Sounds like FDH is referring to this material:

D - Rib

It's the only material with a half round cross section that I'm aware of.

This LINK should provide the background he needs to identify it.

Man, you guys know your stuff, and yes the stuff was quite stiff. D-Rib seems the closest, other than being translucent. I'll be picking some up to try.

Thanks for helping out. Fred

I don't know what they call it but any craft shop will have the lace they use for leather craft in all sizes and colors try this out and let me know what you think.
