Has anyone here read this book? Being a student of nature I find it intriguing but a couple of scathing reviews on Amazon have me thinking twice about dropping fifteen bucks for it.

Hi, Mountainbrookie - -

Mahoney's book is very good. I actually first read about this topic on Charles Meck's website. He posted a piece a few years ago titled "Match the Flower" that covered this territory in a more condensed fashion:

I think the book is great; well worth $15.00 if you are interested in general nature study as well as fly fishing . . .

I think there is another book entitled "The Phenological Fly," which also matches flowers with hatches. I paged thru it one time, but I didn't buy it. It really is an interesting and pretty accurate concept, IMO.
